Accessibility statement
We want aventiswest.com to work for everyone, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, screen magnification, or high-contrast settings.
The standard we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. That’s one step above WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the standard federal rules now set for state and local government websites.
What we do
- Plain language. We write in short, direct sentences and explain terms the first time we use them.
- Text alternatives. Every chart and diagram on the site has a written description, and the logo has alt text.
- Keyboard access. Every link, button, menu, and form field can be reached and used with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline. A “Skip to content” link jumps past the menu.
- Color and contrast. Text meets WCAG contrast levels in both the light and dark versions of the site, and links in text are underlined, so color is never the only signal.
- Readable on any screen. Pages reflow on phones and at 200 percent zoom without sideways scrolling.
- Labeled forms. Each field in the contact form has a visible label.
- No overlay tools. We don’t use accessibility widgets or overlays. We fix issues in the site itself.
How we check
We test pages with the axe-core automated checker against WCAG 2.2 Level AA, and we check keyboard use, zoom, and small screens by hand. We review the site again whenever we change its design.
Known limits
- The downloadable Excel budget template and Word proposal template haven’t had a full accessibility review yet. If you have trouble with either, email us and we’ll send a version that works for you.
- Many articles link to government and funder websites and documents. We don’t control those, and some may not be accessible.
Tell us about a problem
If something on the site doesn’t work for you, email hello@aventiswest.com. Tell us the page and what happened, and we’ll work with you to get you the information in a format that works.
